Privacy policy

IndiaRoad Map is run by Avinash Verma, an individual developer in India, who is responsible for your data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

  • Account: username, email and password (stored hashed).
  • Location: only while you use the app. We don't store your route.
  • Hazards and reports: type, location and time, linked to your account. Other people see them on the map, not who reported them.
  • Searches and saved places: your last 30 searches, and places like Home and Office.
  • Trips: distance and time only, for your trip history and the leaderboard.
  • Live location sharing: only if you turn it on, and only your latest position.
  • Sign-up and login attempts: time, result and the username and email entered.
  • Device data: advertising ID, app usage and crash information, through Google's tools.

Motion-sensor readings and voice search audio stay on your phone.

Third-party services

We don't sell your data.

  • Google AdMob (ads)
  • Google Firebase (analytics and notifications)

We also use service providers for maps, search, email and hosting. They only get what they need to do their job.

Our website has no cookies and no analytics.

How long we keep it

  • Account data: while your account is open, then 180 days after you delete it.
  • Trip records: 90 days.
  • Sign-up and login attempts: 30 days.
  • Hazards and reports stay on the map without your name after your account data is erased.

Deleting your account

In the app: Profile → Delete Account. Your account closes straight away. We keep your data for 180 days in case the law requires it, then erase it. See Delete your account.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or erase your data, withdraw consent, or name someone to act for you. Email [email protected] from your account's email address.

Children

There's no age limit. Under 18s should use the app with a parent's or guardian's consent.

Changes

We'll update this page when things change. Important changes will be announced in the app or by email.

Avinash Verma, [email protected]. We reply within 24 hours and aim to resolve complaints within 15 days. You can also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
